Master Chief
Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John-117 is a SPARTAN-II commando of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command. He served as one of the most important figures of the Human-Covenant War. With nearly thirty years of active duty, he is one of the most decorated war veterans in the UNSC Defense Force, having fought in more than two hundred ground engagements against the Covenant and earning every major service medal except the Prisoner of War Medallion. In late 2552, John-117 went missing in action after the Battle of Installation 00, when he and the current Arbiter, Thel 'Vadam, fired Installation 04B.
Among most humans, John-117 is simply known as the "Master Chief," the "Chief," and "SPARTAN-117." The Covenant is aware of the power of the SPARTANs and refer to John as "the Demon," a terrifying warrior responsible for the deaths of untold thousands. John is referred to as "Reclaimer" by both 343 Guilty Spark and 2401 Penitent Tangent, although this is a universal title given to all humans, rather than specifically John.

Cortana
Cortana (UNSC Artificial Intelligence serial number: CTN 0452-9) is a UNSC "smart" AI. She was one of the most important figures in the Human-Covenant War, and served as John-117's partner in the final months of the conflict. Her flexibility and tactical skill proved invaluable in boosting the combat ability of the Halcyon-class cruiser Pillar of Autumn, the Orbital Defense Platform Cairo Station and the UNSC frigate In Amber Clad. In addition, she held vital data pertaining to the Halos, including the Activation Index from Installation 04.
Sara Palmer
Commander Sara Palmer is a human senior officer of the UNSC Navy and the Spartans serving in the post-war years. She was augmented as part of the fourth generation supersoldier program and currently serves aboard the UNSC Infinity as the commander of the Spartan contingent. Palmer wears the Scout variant of the MJOLNIR GEN2 armor, in-lieu of specialized communications models built specifically for Spartan officers, and arms herself accordingly with the M395 rifle.
Palmer's hair color changed from a darker, almost black-ish, color between her reveal at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con and late pre-release renders to a dark copper brown with highlights. The styling of her hair has, however, remained the same, with the parting on the left side in a short ponytail, and continues to be in-keeping with traditional military grooming standards for female personnel. Her full name, Sara Palmer, was revealed months later via a collectible action figure at the Square Enix Play Arts booth during the Tokyo Game Show

Thomas Lasky
Known for his renegade attitude as an "innie sympathizer," Thomas was shunned universally by squadmates and other classmates alike. Lasky was not hesitant whatsoever to express his views on the ongoing conflict with the colonies, even with the ardent stance on the conquering of the rebel effort by the majority of Corbulo Academy's staff and cadet corps. The constant display of pacifism and sympathy towards the Insurrectionist cause did not hamper his enthusiasm to successfully lead his team into combat using tactics that would overwhelm the enemy, albeit with tactics that would cause them to peacefully capitulate. Many believed that Thomas would not live up to the level of excellency set by his brother Cadmon, by then a Marine junior officer in the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, nor the expectations of his estranged mother to at the very least, graduate from the academy. At the conclusion of his freshman year from 2525 to 2526, lingering doubts about his competency as a future officer were alleviated. Commander Thomas J. Lasky is a human senior officer of the UNSC Navy who served throughout the Human-Covenant War and in the post war years. Since at least 2552, Lasky has served as Captain Del Rio's executive officer aboard the UNSC Infinity.
Captain Andrew Del Rio
Captain Andrew Del Rio is a human senior officer in the UNSC Navy, serving throughout the Human-Covenant War and into the post-war years. Del Rio has served aboard UNSC Infinity as her commanding officer since 2552.
Admiral Margaret Parangosky, Commander-in-Chief, Naval Intelligence, noted that Del Rio is more of a manager than a leader; unable to inspire those under his command. She only conceded to making him captain of the UNSC Infinity because Commander Tom Lasky was assigned as his executive officer.
A few years prior to the end of major hostilities in the Great War, Del Rio was leading the military personnel assigned to maintain, repair, and protect the Infinity he had received this assignment for his status as a seasoned naval line officer and because he could drop off the grid with little trouble. Later, he would be given the honor of being the first commanding officer of the UNSC's largest and most advanced warship to date. Del Rio and the sailors and Marines under his command would take the Infinity out for her first space trials in mid-2553.

Jul 'Mdama
Jul 'Mdama is Sangheili who served as a Shipmaster in the Covenant during the Human-Covenant War and later became the leader of the Storm.
Jul was born in the state of State of Mdama on Sanghelios. Years later he would marry Raia 'Mdama, having two sons, Dural and Asum, and a few daughters. While he was away at war, he left estate management to Raia and her grandbrother, Naxan.
After the war, he still felt mistrust and resentment toward humanity, comparing them to the Flood in some respects, believing the species wouldn't stop their colonization efforts. He did, however, grudgingly admit that while they weren't the best at anything, they were good enough at everything to survive.
In January 2553, he attended a meeting with the Kaidon Levu 'Mdama and the Arbiter Thel 'Vadam. He asked the Arbiter what his plans were for the humans and expressed his desire to finish them off while they were still recovering. After Vadam announced he will try to make peace with the humans, he and fellow shipmaster Forze decided that humanity wouldn't change and that they must stop them.
‘Mdama and Forze then allied with Avu Med 'Telcam purely out of pragmatism, as the Servants of Abiding Truth were best-equipped to assassinate Thel 'Vadam. After stealing the frigate Unflinching Resolve, ‘Mdama became suspicious of 'Telcam's benefactors, and secretly followed him to New Llanelli. After he discovered 'Telcam receiving weapons from the Office of Naval Intelligence, ‘Mdama was discovered and captured by Naomi-010. Detained onboard the UNSC Port Stanley, he was interrogated by Evan Phillips and the shipboard AI, Black-Box. ‘Mdama was then transferred to ONI Research Facility Trevelyan, where he was placed in captivity under the supervision of Dr. Irena Magnusson.
